A dissertation exploring the research question. How do music conservatoire students acquire the techniques and strategies that enable them to read music at sight?
Prior to Postgraduate study at the Royal College of Music, Mark was a class teacher in schools with outstanding music departments, including the King's School, Ely, Cathedral School. He has been Organist and Director of Music at St. Peter's, Ealing since 2011 and deputised for many London churches with professional choirs. At St. Peter's he has established a music scholarship and international recital series with performers from the US, Norway, Sweden and Russia. In 2015-16 he led the schools outreach component for the £350,000 Heritage Lottery Fund restoration of the Hill organ of St. John's, Hyde Park, London. In 2015 he represented the Royal College of Music at the International Symposium for Performance Science at Kyoto University, Japan. Mark presented his MSc dissertation findings at ISPS Iceland in autumn 2017 and gave a recital on the Klais organ of Hallgrímskirkja.
He brings a broad range of experience and training to individual teaching, examination and concert preparation.
